Preventive

    List of Preventive / Diagnostic dental services examinations

  • cleanings (prophylaxis)

  • bitewing x-rays

  • periapical x-rays

  • full-mouth, panorex x-rays

  • fluoride treatments (age limitations may apply)

  • space maintainers (may be a Basic service, age limitations may apply)

  • tooth sealants (may be a Basic service, age limitations may apply)

  • Mouth Guards and Night Guards

    Ideally, your plan will provide these services at least at these frequencies.

  • Examinations - twice per year.

  • Bite-wing x-rays - once per year.

  • Teeth cleanings - twice per year.

  • Full mouth x-ray series - once every three years.

  • Additional preventive dental care for children and adolescents.

  • Topical fluoride treatments - twice per year.

Basic

  • emergency care for pain relief

  • composite fillings (white fillings)

  • routine tooth extractions

  • root canal treatment - (maybe Major service)

  • periodontal scaling and root planing

  • periodontal surgery (maybe Major service)

  • recementing dental crowns

  • stainless steel (prefabricated) crowns

  • non-routine x-rays

  • Preventive care, periodontal therapy, and nutritional counselling

    • Just as prevention and early diagnosis are so important, so is correcting any problems that do develop as soon as possible

Major

  • dental crowns (may be a Basic service) 

  • inlays and onlays

  • bridgework

  • tooth implants

  • impacted wisdom teeth removal (maybe Basic)

  • complex oral surgery procedures

  • anaesthesia/sedation

  • removable partial dentures

  • complete dentures

  • denture relines and rebases

  • denture repair

  • orthodontic treatment

  • Oral appliances for control of sleep apnea

Mouth Guard

A soft-fitted device that is inserted into the mouth and worn over the teeth to protect them against impact or injury.

Many of our offices have the capability to make Sports Mouth Guards in-office. Mouth Guard material comes in many colours, allowing them to be customized to your school's colours or for your favourite sports team. Night Guard

A removable acrylic appliance that fits over the upper and lower teeth used to prevent wear and temporomandibular damage caused by grinding or gnashing of the teeth during sleep.
